Most Used | 3-4 Years

Image with the words 'Most Used for ages 3-4 years' written in a black, sketch like font in the centre of the image. Surrounding the text are images of the items most used during the ages 3-4 years. This includes a pair of pink plastic childrens sunglasses, A bottle of ready mixed yellow kids craft paint, a pair of blue childrens ear defenders, a childrens unicorn handwriting practice and activity book and a bag of copper coins.

Every time I write these Most Used posts I feel a mixture of sadness and a sense of purpose. The sense of purpose comes from using my parenting knowledge to inform other parents or those buying gifts, what the most useful things are for this age group. The sadness comes from realising my little girl is growing up and when I look back over these old posts they remind of the things we used to own, things full of memories and nostalgia- who'd have thought you'd miss a travel potty?? Parenting is weird like that. Here's this year's list of the things we used most between the ages of 3-4.

The Hunting Party by Lucy Foley

Image of the front cover of the kindle ebook version of The Hunting Party by Lucy Foley. The cover shows the book title and the author's name alongside the silhouette of a stag's head. To the left is a title that reads 'Review The Hunting Party by Lucy Foley'

The Hunting Party is set in the Scottish wilderness. A group of thirty somethings have booked the entire lodge for their annual New Year's Eve getaway. There's the 'perfect couple' with their new baby, the 'university sweethearts' that have been together since forever and the 'new couple' that are eager to please. Then there's the eternally single one. Factor in a perky hostess and a surly groundskeeper an you've got everything you need for a classic 'whodunnit'

Living Arrows | Mummy Daughter Days

Image of a mother and daughter on a playground. The mother has a short pixie haircut and is wearing tortoise shell glasses and bright lipstick . She is smiling. The daughter has long blonde hair that is flowing over her shoulders. The girl is pulling a silly face and sticking out her tongue.

'You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth' Khalil Gibran.

As you can see Iris is in that annoying pre-schooler phase of silly faces, made up words and constantly saying 'poo', 'bum' and 'sick'. She's well and truly in that 'gross out the grown ups' stage of her life and whilst it's annoying, it can on occasion be rather amusing.

Gift Ideas For A 3 Year Old

Title image introducing the blog post. The text reads 'gift ideas for a 3 year old' and surrounding the text is various gift ideas. There is a Paw Patrol Paw Patroller, A Paw Patrol Chase Figurine and Vehicle. Several pots of Play Doh, A Multi-coloured Marble Run and A Crocodile Dentist Game.

We're back again with another collection of gift ideas, this time for 3 year olds. It's been a year since Iris's 3rd birthday and throughout the year I've kept a note of the things we used the most in order to create this gift guide. Prior to having a child of my own I'd always struggle with what to buy children of certain ages. My hope is that posts like this can help you to purchase something useful, that will be loved and is age appropriate.

Living Arrows | She's Back!

Image of a girl wearing Skye from Paw Patrol sunglasses, denim jacket and dress riding on a carousel horse on a vintage traditional hand powered merry go round. The girl has her hand in the air and is doing a thumbs up. She has a large grin and her hair is flowing behind her.

After a few days of illness last week I think we can safely say that Iris is on the mend! How fabulous is this picture?!? It just perfectly captures her spirit. She's so confident, so funny and such a ball of energy. I'm clinging onto these moments as it feels like a matter of time before she's ill again- it's definitely the season as not only are there positive cases of Covid at pre-school but also now chicken pox! Autumn is usually my favourite time of year but now I have a pre-schooler I'm starting to change my mind.

The Mercies by Kiran Millwood Hargrave

Image of the front cover of the ebook version of The Mercies by Kiran Millwood Hargrave. The book cover features the book title in bold and a floral pattern surrounding it. The ebook is displayed on a Amazon Kindle Paperwhite that is laid on a pastel coloured background that features small drawers. Alongside the image is a title that reads 'Review, The Mercies by Kiran Millwood Hargrave www.chatterfox.co.uk'

The Mercies is the tale of a small coastal fishing village that suffers a great tragedy, one that disrupts the entire nature of the people that live there. An almighty storm killing almost all the men and leaving the women behind to grieve, strive and ultimately aim to survive the harsh realities of their new lives. Help arrives from foreign shores, shores that are ran by patriarchies and religious zealots. What will happen to the women of Vardo?
