Pyjamas have always been a staple in my life. There's something incredibly comforting about being at home in your nightwear. For me clothing signifies that I'm ready to face my fears and head out into the outside world. Clothes are my armour. In contrast, pyjamas are my safe place. Loungewear and nightwear signifies taking a step back from the world and retreating to the comfort of my own home. Pyjama days are a necessity for me so when IDentity Lingerie asked me to review their luxurious range of Long Silk Pyjamas I jumped at the chance.
IDentity Lingerie are a Lincolnshire based brand that pride themselves on their high quality range of nightwear and lingerie. Each item is handmade in Europe in small batches to ensure low wastage.
The pyjamas come in a wide array of colours and I choose this gorgeous emerald green that has gold piping and buttons. The colour way is rich and classy and really gives off an air of luxury.
Texture and sensory issues play a big part in life with Autism so nightwear that is comfortable is always at the top of my agenda. I never actually considered silk to be an option as I always thought it would be cold and slippery but it's actually really nice. These pyjamas are the perfect blend of Japanese silk, polyester and elastane.
I ordered the pyjamas in size Medium which is a 10-12. I'm nearer the 12 end of the scale and the medium fits perfectly. There's no gaping between the buttons and the buttons stay closed so there's no accidental boob flashing. The elasticated waist is comfortable and stretches without digging in for the days I'm having Coeliac symptoms. I'm quite short at 5ft 2inch so the legs are a little long but I expected that. I think the leg length is ideal for an average size person but there is the option on the website to customise your pyjamas to fit perfectly if you have particular requirements.
I've been rather impressed with my first experience of silk pyjamas and very impressed with IDentity Lingerie, from their speedy delivery and cute packaging to their high quality product and gorgeous colour ways. These would make an ideal Christmas gift.
